ZED began with the Prime Minister's Independence Day call to Indian manufacturers: make goods so well that exports are never returned, and make them without harming the environment. The Ministry of MSME turned that vision into the MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification Scheme in 2022 — a national mark of quality and sustainability at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.
For your unit, the certificate is proof that buyers, OEMs and banks recognise — and here's the real opportunity: lakhs of units hold Bronze, but only a few thousand in the entire country have reached Silver or Gold. Upgrading now puts your factory in a club most competitors haven't entered.

Every Udyam-registered MSME gets a one-time ₹10,000 joining reward on taking the ZED Pledge, plus a certification subsidy — 80% for micro, 60% for small, 50% for medium enterprises.
*Indicative cost for micro enterprises at 80% subsidy, before adjusting the joining reward. Small enterprises get 60% and medium 50%. Additional 10% subsidy for women/SC/ST-owned units, and 5% more for SFURTI / MSE-CDP cluster units. Women-owned MSMEs currently get ZED certification free of cost.
